17 km south of Astana the future location of the National Pantheon of the Republic of Kazakhstan can be found. The Pantheon is to become a memorial burial vault, a monument of glory. By letting the rivers flow and flood again, fertile soil is placed on its banks, making it green and prosperous.
To represent the multi ethnical and multi religious society of Kazakhstan, we proposed a design in which a canyon is cut into the hill in which the river flows. By this, different layers of the soil become visible. Centrally located in the canyon is the heart of the pantheon, a tower that is focused on the center of the Astana.
